MOSIMANE TAKES AIM AT HUNT

The gloves appear to be off between new Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane and SuperSport United boss Gavin Hunt, at least that is the impression created by the national coach’s reaction to comments attributed to Hunt, relating to defender Bongani Khumalo’s fitness.

Earlier in the week, Hunt was quoted as saying Khumalo would not be part of the Bafana Bafana match against Ghana on August 11 through injury and Mosimane did not take kindly to this seeming interference in national team matters.

"I thought everyone was aware of the procedure that is implemented internationally in such instances," Mosimane was quoted as saying in the Friday edition of the Sowetan.

"The club can report an injury to us, but from that point on we examine the medical evidence provided by the club, call in our own doctor to confirm any diagnosis and only then do we decide whether the player is fit enough."

These comments are sure to become a focal point at a planned media interaction session with the national coach later on Friday.
