SSU out to settle the score against coastal side Stellenbosch in Cup clash

SuperSport United will take on coastal outfit Stellenbosch FC in a crucial Nedbank Cup quarterfinal clash this coming weekend.

The match is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at the Danie Craven Stadium.

Kickoff is at 15:00.

Matsatsantsa are going into this match following their league loss to TS Galaxy at home last weekend.

“We lost our last match in the league, but as professionals, we needed to understand that it’s part of football after analyzing the result with the coach.

We learnt from our mistakes and it’s now water under the bridge. We are looking to the big match away from home,” said the United captain Onismor Bhasera.

This is going to be a tough one as both sides are looking to push to advance to the next stage of the lucrative competition.

“This is a different ball game, we have to go out there and fight. Stellenbosch are doing well at the moment in the league so this a sign that it’s not going to be an easy one for us,” said the captain.

Matsatsantsa are undoubtedly going out there with a convincing Cup pedigree as opposed to Stellenbosch.

“What you put is what you get, that is what’s happening these days in football. If we put more effort than our opponents we will definitely get a positive result. Also, we have our supporters who will push us to win the match and get to the next round,” the Zimbabwean international emphasized.

At the beginning of the season, United lost to Stellenbosch in the MTN 8 quarterfinal, so this is the perfect time for United to settle the score.

“We have lost to them in the other Cup match this season and we are aware of the dangers they possess. However, we have been working on the upcoming match the whole week. We focused on certain aspects of the match and are good to go.

We are confident and ready for the match. The ones who want it most will definitely be victorious at the end of the day,” said the Matsatsantsa skipper.

This will be the two sides’ fourth meeting of the current season after meeting twice in the league and a Cup loss in Polokwane last year.

Matsatsantsa will rely heavily on players such as keeper Ricardo Goss, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Grant Margeman, Shandre Campbell and Zimbabwean international Terence Dzvukamanja.

The team left for Cape Town on Friday afternoon.
