SuperSport United Diski boys lost to perennial rivals Mamelodi Sundowns in the Diski derby weekend.

The match was held at the Tsakane Stadium in Ekurhuleni on Saturday afternoon.

United created a lot of scoring opportunities in the opening minutes of the match as Manelis Mazibuko missed clear-cut  goal-scoring opportunities.

In the 20th minute Pfunzo Ramunasi nearly scored as the Sundowns keeper caught the goal-bound effort at close range.

United kept on asking questions as Ramunasi’s powerful effort hit the upright in the 33rd minute and the follow-up was easily caught by the Sundowns keeper.

Sundowns managed to score five minutes before halftime through Keabetswe Ramotsei to make the score 1-0.

Sundowns’ Onele Rulwana was cautioned after an unsporting behaviour to United keeper Samukelo Xulu.

In the last minute before the break, Jabu Matsio was unlucky as the Sundowns keeper denied him a scoring opportunity to level the score.

The halftime score was 1-0.

Rulwana netted Sundowns’ second goal after a serious counter-attack.

In the 68th minute Thabang Makhubo’s set-piece was saved by the Sundowns keeper.

SuperSport kept on pushing to reduce the deficit as Makhubo made way for Kabelo Selowa in the 75th minute.
