SuperSport United Football Club legends formed part of the FIFA Foundation Twinning Project that was launched in Tshwane on Monday.

The launch of the project, the first in Africa, is partnered with SuperSport United Football Club, Department of Justice and Correctional Services and the FIFA Foundation.

The event was held at the Kgoši Mampuru Correctional Facility.

In case you did not know, the Matsatsantsa legends were not only invited as part of the dignitaries at the event but were also there for an entertaining match against the inmates.

The thrilling encounter between the two sides kicked off immediately after the proceedings where dignitaries such as the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services Ronald Lamola, Twinning Project CEO Hilton Freund and SuperSport United CEO Stanley Matthews addressed the audience.

Matsatsantsa legends featured some of the players who won the championship and Cup competitions such as Sibusiso “Sense” Mahlangu, Katlego “Killer” Mphela, Cavann “Shakes” Sibeko and Raymond “Wewe” Seopa.

Other legends who featured in the United team included Aubrey Lekwane, Desmond Chauke, Japie Motale, Thapelo Liau and the 1996 Bafana Bafana gold medalist Edward “MaGents” Motale.

The final score was 1-all at regulation time with forward Mphela scoring for United and the match had to be decided on penalties. The inmates won 2-1 on penalties.
