SSU skipper on strict measures at training – Day Five

New SuperSport United captain couldn’t hide his excitement when the team resumed training this week after COVID19 pandemic disruption three months ago.

Today marks Day Five of the training programme as the players and technical converged at Megawatt Park this past Sunday.

“Our main priority is still health and safety, we have come a long way so we don’t want to mess it up now, so the technical team is strict on protocols. First 3 days have been about our fitness to see how far the players are and who needs more work done,” said the new Matsatsantsa skipper.

Under normal circumstances, training is conducted with everybody on the pitch doing what they are assigned to do, however, this time around there is a selected number of players and technical team members allowed on the pitch.

“We are still only training in smaller groups of five, so it’s not the entire team together. We are mostly doing individual work as we cannot train in large groups yet. The club as a whole has done outside work in reminding us daily to follow proper procedures and we thank them for going the extra mile to make sure we can resume training,” said the skipper.

The training preparation starts at home as all members who report to work get screened before entering the facility. It is a case of No Mask, No Entry.

“We get kitted at home, upon arrival our temperatures get checked and we need to sanitize constantly, we then get addressed by the head coach and we start training, once done training we immediately leave the premises as other groups enter,” he said.

Meanwhile Williams thanked all ex-teammates who have been released by the club and wished them the best of luck after spending a lot of time together.

“They played a huge part in writing history for the club, we thank them for their wonderful services, goals, saves and most importantly the brotherhood we shared. We wish them all the best and we will forever be united,” concluded the captain.
